When we lose our guns, and terrorists still find a way to get them, how will we defend ourselves?

If the government has sling shots, then all we need are sling shots, if the government has muskets, then all we need are muskets, but if the government has automatic weapons and hollow points, and all we have are muskets, then we will be murdered by the tens of thousands.
